After Leaving Education Simon worked as a graphic designer gaining knowledge of technology and the importance of design. After seven years, Simon left the office to be more hands on and follow in his father’s footsteps as a woodworker.
After several years as a carpenter often fitting off-the-shelf kitchens, Simon found that popular manufacturers products lacked both the design ingenuity and quality to ensure a well fitting and long lasting kitchen.
As a result of his concern, Simon went on to develop his own bespoke designs, initially building cabinets in his garage and later putting together a more sophisticated workshop in Brighton.
Although he revelled in the challenge of designing each individual kitchen from scratch he also recognised the time and expense that went hand in hand with bespoke, often rendering it an elite product.
With his manufacturing experience in mind Simon decided to draw upon his design skills, this time working with 3D design software that allowed him to create a range of standardized cabinets that could be simply manipulated in terms of scale. With this technology and the help of ecommerce he quickly realised that quality bespoke kitchens could be accessible to many, nationwide.
